The driver of a Toyota Allion is hospitalised after his vehicle crashed into the concrete columns on Lightfoot mainroad early this morning.
At the time of the accident, an eyewitness said, the man was travelling from north to south through the Gunthropes area when he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.
According to the eyewitness, the driver said he was tired. It was about 5:40 am.
Thr witness said the man remained in the car after the incident until the Emergency Medical Services team arrived.
EMS, along with residents, helped the injured man out of the vehicle as he complained of pain in the neck, back and shoulders.
It is believed his neck pain is due to the whiplash from the air bag which deployed upon impact.
According to an EMS source, his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
