Bullets impress in softball T20 League

Bryson’s Shipping & Insurance Bullets etched their name into softball cricket history on Sunday with a massive 252 runs victory over Big Stage Bouyon Kings in the newly introduced Myron “Percy” Phillip 20/20 League.

Batting first, Bullets amassed a huge 307 for three in their allotted 20 overs. Richie Thomas was best with the bat as he slammed 119 not out. There were valuable contributions of 78 not out and 71 from Morrison Browne and Wilston Charles respectively, as they also added to the massive total.

Kabir Harilall was the pick of the bowlers for the losing team, picking up two wickets for 38 runs in four overs.

In their chase, Bouyon Kings could only reach 55 before they were all out in 14.1 overs. Rayn John and Karl Simon were the only scorers of note with 19 and 17 runs respectively.

Thomas completed his all-round performance when he returned with the ball to grab four wickets for 15 runs in 3.1 overs. Browne also had a good spell, claiming two wickets for 23 runs in four overs.

Also, Dredgers defeated J&J Construction Buckleys 3J’s by 40 runs.

Dredgers made 157 all out in 19.3 overs with Warren John and Mervin Higgins hitting 39 and 30 runs respectively. Robin Bascus Jr. contributed with 21 runs while there were three wickets each for Curtis Daniel, Gregson Merrick and Rodney Williams in a losing effort.

Buckleys 3J’s, in reply, fell short at 117 in 15.3 overs. Williams had a top knock with the bat, making 41 while Walton Ireland was 16 not out. Zack Thomas and John both had three wickets for the winners.

In the other men’s contest, Rackaman Construction Strictly Business beat United Stars by seven wickets. In the Rackaman Construction Antigua and Barbuda Softball Cricket Association (ABSCA) Sharon Joseph 20/20 League, Female Flyers had the better of Jennings Rockets by eight wickets.

Batting first, Jennings Rockets could only reach 40 before they were all out in 12 overs. Makada Samuel did most of the damage for Flyers, claiming three wickets for four runs in just two overs. There were other match winning performances from Sherma Jackson, who bagged three for 13, and Diane Anthony took two wickets for five runs.

Female Flyers then easily reached their target, getting to 42 for two in 2.5 overs. Samuel top-scored with 23 not out while Terez Parker added 15 to the total.

Meanwhile, Sagicor Life Enforcers won by default over Frith-Bowen Barnes Funeral Home Nat Pan My Team after the latter could not field a team.
