The fear and uneasiness of residents in St. John’s have deepened after the discovery of another man who was bound by the hands and feet and killed.
Yesterday, police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of bodybuilding enthusiast Samuel Emmanuel Joseph who was also known as J.B. or Serj, of Bishopgate Street.
Joseph’s body was discovered at the back of a welding shop on Bishopgate Street around 11 a.m. yesterday, lying face down on the ground, with both hands bound behind his back and what appeared to be a leather belt tied around his neck. He was dressed in a yellow t-shirt and a pair of green pants.
The nature of Joseph’s killing has left some residents of the neighbourhood feeling vulnerable, with curious onlookers who gathered at the scene questioning the motive for killing the man whom many said was not troublesome.
“I don’t know what he would have done to anybody to do the man that. He was a decent man. He wasn’t your regular vagrant, he was always clean, and he was not a troublemaker.
He sold breadfruit, walk around talking politics and singing loudly, ‘I’ve got dreams to remember’, was one of his favourite,” one woman who knew the deceased said.
Joseph’s death came mere days after Carlton “Pum Pum,” Charles’ body was found in an abandoned house in an advanced stage of decomposition. The deceased’s hands and feet were also bound.
