Female beach volleyballers, Nyota Peters and Joelle Thomas, find themselves still without a win in the ongoing Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Baranquilla, Colombia.
The veterans, after losing their two preliminary matches in the Women’s Pool B on Saturday, suffered another loss on Monday to St. Kitts and Nevis.
Peters and Thomas suffered their first defeat by partners, Marissa Brady Ramos and Jarisa Hynds Bodden of Hondorus, in straight sets on Saturday morning, losing 21-18, 21-13.
Later that evening, the duo went under in straight sets once again, this time to Cuba’s Leila Martinez Ortega and Maylen Delis Tamayo, losing 21-10, 21-11.
A win would have guaranteed Team Wadadli a 13th place finish but this dream would not become a reality as the team of Genelle Howell and Brenda Allen-Edinborough flexed their muscles, winning in straight sets 21-11, 21-13 at the Avenida del rio-Puerta de Oro.
The veterans will however look to end their losing streak as they will face the U.S. Virgin Islands later this week in the hopes of securing the 17th spot.
