Antigua and Barbuda suffer first loss

Antigua and Barbuda suffered their first defeat in the ongoing Under-21 Male Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Championships at the YMCA Volleyball Indoor Facility.

Playing Friday morning, the home team went under to rivals St. Lucia 3-2 in sets; losing 25-15, 22-25, 25-11, 24-26, 15-8.

This follows a convincing 3-0 victory over St. Kitts and Nevis in the feature encounter with a 25-17, 25-13, 25-18 on Thursday night.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines recorded their first win on Friday, beating St. Kitts and Nevis in straight sets 25-12, 25-13, 25-20.

The Vincy boys, in their first match on Thursday night, lost to St. Lucia 3-2 in sets 18-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-11.

Antigua and Barbuda played St. Vincent and the Grenadines last evening in their final group match, but those results could not be obtained up to press time.

The semi-finals will however spike off tonight, starting 6pm. A general admission fee of $10 will be charged.

The winner of the tournament will advance to the 2020 NORCECA Championships.
