Another female member of the Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has publicly declared that she wants to run on the party’s ticket in the St. John’s Rural West constituency in the next general elections.
Russhell Ellis, 27, said that she is best suited for the job because of her track record in the community.
She officially wrote to the ABLP’s constituency branch on November 20, expressing her interest.
Her declaration came a day after Shawn Benjamin made the same application.
Ellis and Benjamin will come up against 30-year-old Senator Aziza Lake who expressed interest last week.
“I am a youth advocate, I have been involved in youth activities for a long while, and Antiguans and Barbudans are familiar with the name Russhell Ellis. I am no stranger to the ABLP I have been a member before I was even eligible to vote,” Ellis said during an interview yesterday.
Ellis served as president of the ABLP youth arm in 2002. She is also a past student of the Foundation Mixed School and Otto’s Comprehensive.
The youth advocate is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management at the Monroe College.
