The middle-aged man charged in connection with the viral audio recording of an argument over payment for a sexual encounter with an under-aged girl, was offered bail in the amount of $10,000 when he appeared in the St John’s Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The accused, who was charged with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16, was required to pay $2,500 to facilitate his release from custody.
Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh stipulated in the bail conditions that the 52-year-old man needed two sureties to sign on his behalf, surrender his travel documents to the court and avoid any direct and indirect communication with the virtual complainant and possible witnesses in the matter.
He was also ordered to report to the St John’s Police Station between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Committal proceedings are set for June 8, 2017.
The All Saints resident was charged after he was identified as the man who was arguing with a female over the cost for sexual favours, in a viral recording that has been making the rounds on social media since late last month.
