The United Progressive Party’s (UPP) caretaker for the St George Constituency, George Wehner said that a widely viewed video of him and the prime minister clearly show Gaston Browne no longer fears for his life.
In a clip circulated on social media, Wehner is seen standing directly next to the prime minister, even after Browne would have self-imposed a restraining order against him.
“I don’t know if his operatives called and tipped him off that we were there and he was really feeling the pressure so he decided to come and see for himself, but clearly, the fact that he was pursuing us for several blocks, all the way along taunting us, he did not seem like a man who feared for his life,” Wehner told OBSERVER media yesterday.
Last month, Browne issued a warning for Wehner to stay 100 feet away from him, after the caretaker admitted that he was responsible for a video depicting Antigua & Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) Members of Parliament and the Speaker of the House under crosshairs juxtaposed with clips of rapid gunfire.
The former captain in the Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) had apologised shortly after, and was later taken into police custody where he was questioned and later released.
