West Indies’ hopes of an automatic World Cup spot suffered yet another blow when they slid even further in the latest ICC One-Day International rankings released Monday.

How could we, as a nation, be considering monopolies in 2017? It gave us unpleasant flashbacks to the days of the monopolies in things like aggregates, petroleum and telecommunication services. Although we seem to be in a petroleum monopoly with the government-majority-owned West Indies Oil Company (WIOC), but that is for another time.
