ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reporting a 14.66 percent voter turnout between the hours of 7:00 am and 11:00 am for the Greater Portmore North by-election.
Voting began at 7:00 am.
The EOJ said that of the 10,677 registered voters, 1,565 ballots were cast across 38 polling stations in seven voting locations in the electoral division.
Voting continues, with polls scheduled to close at 5:00 pm.
Teacher Ann Marie Lewis is contesting the division for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), while accountant Gary Nicholson is seeking to keep the division for the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP).
The by-election is as a result of the vacancy left by the sudden death of PNP Councillor Michael ‘Fisher’ Edwards in January.
