The 38 students from Zone 3 who earned coveted spots in the 2024 Grade 6 National Assessment were recently recognized during an awards ceremony, a release said.

Director of Education Clare Browne encouraged the students to continue on their paths to success by working hard and making the best of their educational journey.

Similarly, commendations to the students were offered by Youth Ambassador, Esquire Henry, a former student of Zone 3’s JT Ambrose Primary School. He advised the students that there is no perfect time to chase their dreams and that readiness is not about having everything in place, emphasising that readiness is about having the courage to start where they are and believing they can get far.

Each of the principals present while presenting their students with certificates told of the unique qualities they observed in their students.

Dr Desiree Antonio, Education Officer-Zone 3 schools, presented Elyze Henry from Minoah Magnet Academy with the Education Officer’s award for excellent work. Henry earned first place in the 2024 Grade 6 National Assessment by amassing 385 marks from a possible 400. In second place in the island and Zone 3 was Naliyah Lewis, with Jordon Lawrence 4th in the island and 3rd in the Zone, both students hailing from Baptist Academy. Ashley Durrand received special recognition as the Top public-school student from Cobbs Cross School.

The Top 100 students in the Zone this year, attended Baptist Academy of Antigua, St John’s Lutheran, New Bethel Academy, Minoah Magnet Academy, SDA Primary, Sea View Farm Primary, Island Academy and Cobbs Cross Primary. They each received gifts from either BDO or Sagicor, two companies that have consistently supported the accomplishments of our students over the years.

We proudly congratulate all the students and wish them every success on their educational journeys.
