Since Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, announced his intention to lower intraregional travel taxes as a means of boosting movement throughout CARICOM, the process has been moving along slowly.
Only a handful of countries so far – including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados and Grenada – have officially joined the effort.
The government has insisted that patience must be exercised in this regard – due to the complex nature of the process – but there are concerns that its implementation may not start anytime soon, given the impact of the ongoing pandemic.
Observer spoke with a handful of young people across the island, to gauge their views on the potential success or failure of the tax reduction, and whether it is likely to be made permanent in the future.
