Youth teams record victories in regional football

Antigua and Barbuda recorded victories in two separate football competitions this week with triumph for the national Under-14 girls in the CFU Challenge Series in Dominica and victory for the boys in the CONCACAF Under-15 being held at the IMG in Florida.

Playing against the hosts, Antigua and Barbuda dominated their opening match of the Under-14 Challenge Series on Sunday, beating Dominica 6-0. The Benna Girls had a double strike from Ashanti Joyce while there were single conversions from Akira James, Gabrielle DeSuza, Donisha Samuel and Lequisha George.

Meanwhile, the boys’ team came out on top after what was a close battle against St. Vincent & the Grenadines in their CONCACAF opener, winning the contest 3-2.

Tyrique Thwaites, Shamoi Andrew and Sean Tomlinson all scored once for Antigua and Barbuda, netting in minutes 27, 41 and 50 respectively.
