A young man received a suspended sentence after he was convicted for cutting his cousin with a knife during a recent altercation.

Tajay Gallimore of Bathlodge, who appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason in St John’s Magistrates’ Court earlier this week on a charge of wounding, pleaded guilty to the offence.

Gallimore, 21, received a seven-day suspended prison sentence.  He was placed on a bond to be of good behaviour and to keep the peace for one year.

The acting Chief Magistrate cautioned him that if he fails to keep out of trouble and finds himself back before the court he must serve the seven days in prison.

Wason also told the young landscaper that his behaviour was unacceptable and advised him to walk away if he is unable to resolve issues with other people.

Gallimore was involved in an altercation with his brother and cousin during which he used a knife and inflicted an injury to the man’s left hand.

His cousin, who is much older and does carpentry and masonry as a profession, told the court that he never had any issues with Gallimore prior to this incident, although he said he has a short temper.

Gallimore’s mother described him as being cool and calm but added that he would sometimes get angry and become quarrelsome.
