Youth basketballers strut their stuff on Day one of All-star Festival

The JSC Sports Complex was bubbling with excitement on Wednesday afternoon as youth basketballers showed off their skills in day one of the two-day Cool and Smooth Inter-school Basketball All-Star event.

The Mini-girls Primary, Mini-boys Primary, Mini-boys Secondary and Junior boys took center stage in the Individual speed dribble, Individual shoot-out, Skills challenge, 4-man team relay and All-star game.

Kiarra McCaully (Buckleys Primary) walked away with the Individual speed dribble title for the Mini-girls Primary category.

Dejonee Meade and Kayla Melvin, both of Sea View Farm Primary, were crowned the Individual shoot-out and Skills Challenge winners. Sea View Farm were also named the 4-man team speed dribble champions.

Meanwhile, Rykela Pelle of Liberta Primary was selected as the All-star game MVP.

Cedar Grove Primary’s Craig Massiah walked away with a number of awards, winning the Individual speed dribble and Skills challenge in the Mini-boys Primary section.

His teammate, Tyrese Whyte, was crowned the Individual shoot-out champ.

Willikies Primary were the 4-man team speed dribble winners while Lebron Jarvis of Liberta Primary was named the All-star game MVP.

St Joseph’s Academy (SJA) earned two awards in the Mini-boys Secondary division.

Malique Ward and Roshani Martin won the Individual speed dribble and Individual shoot-out.

Princess Margaret’s Keyonte George was the Skills challenge winner while Irene B Willaims Secondary ran away with the 4-man team speed dribble title.

Meanwhile, in the Junior boys’ category, Kwaku Potter and Amad Burton of SJA were named the Individual speed dribble and Skills challenge champions, while Kejual Peters of PMS walked away with the Individual shoot-out winner.

Clare Hall Secondary School were the 4-man team speed dribble champs.

Day two of the event will see the Intermediate boys, Senior Boys and Senior Girls in action.
