Only two days into his rape trial in the High Court and Lesroy Durand capitulated, admitting to having raped a 16-year-old girl.
On Monday, the virtual complainant took to the stand and said that in 2016 Durand offered to let her stay and finish her work after the closing time of his internet café. She said that he ‘put up’ the closed sign which was hanging at the entrance and turned off the lights.
According to her, when she told him she was feeling uneasy with the lights being off, he justified it by saying that he did not want persons to assume the café was still open.
She said Durand then held her down on a table and raped her.
The 24-year-old, who was represented by lawyer Michael Archibald, will be sentenced on October 28th.
