Young Lions return to winning ways in Second Division

The young Lions FC returned to their winning ways in Zone B of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) Second Division on Tuesday with a 5-1 triumph over CPTSA Wings.

In what was their eighth victory in 14 matches, Young Lions was led by Javier Joseph who recorded a hattrick with goals in minutes 36, 40 and 44. The onslaught, however, started in the seventh minute when Beresford Rogers opened the scoring while an own goal in minute 49 handed Lions their fifth conversion.

Young Lions move to 28 points and third in the standings, five points behind leaders Green City and second placed JSC Progressors.

Wings had their lone goal come from Reef Delabanque in minute 57 as they remain on 14 points and ninth in the standings.

There was victory as well for Sea View Farm as they edged Earthquake FC, 1-0. Jaheem Sheppard was the game’s only scorer in the 63rd minute. The much-needed win lifts Farm to seventh in the 13-team standings with 22 points after 13 outings. Earthquake remain on 26 points and fourth in the standings.

Also in the winners’ circle was Blackburn Palace as they beat Young Warriors 4-2 to move to 10 points and still in the two-team relegation zone. Young Warriors remain at the bottom of the standings with just one point.

In the other match played on Tuesday, Tamo FC and Belmont FC played to a 1-1 draw. Ogasmajah Christian was on target for Tamo FC in minute 48, while Rondre Mills had given Belmont the advantage in minute 14.
