A cadre of the country’s top football coaches will lend their expertise to young players between the age of 8-17 during the Third Annual Gray’s Green X-Mas Soccer Camp slated to run from December 18-22 at the Keithley Sheppard Recreational Park, formerly King George V Ground.

Micah Samuel, a member of the organising team, highlighted that former national and Empire strikers, Conrad “Boast” Whyte and Andy “Gantone” Nesbitt will be part of the team that will take the young players through their paces for the duration of the exercise.

“I don’t want to single out Boast Whyte and Andy ‘Gantone’ Nesbitt alone, but we have George ‘Sowa’ Dublin and we know how experienced Sowa Dublin is. We also have Nabu [Vincent Samuel], Caja [George Warner] who is one of the top coaches on island, Justin ‘Trini’ Pereira; we have a top female coach in Karen Warner, Lexi Phoenix, Luda [Lindon] Lawrence and we are going to have the great Rowan ‘Porridge’ Benjamin, so I am quite sure the kids will be well taken care of,” he said.

The free camp will cater for both boys and girls and will run from 9-11am daily at the historic venue.

Samuel said that registration can be done on the morning of the opening day while participants will be treated to free gear on a first come, first served basis.

“We have two barrels packed with soccer-related items that we usually give away to the kids so this year will not be any exception. The kids who come early will certainly have first bite at the cherry because we put all the boots out there, all the shorts and socks and what have you, and balls also. So once you come into the camp early, you will have first bite at the cherry,” the former national coach said.

Participants will also be treated to free lunches and refreshments daily at the venue. Interested persons can contact the organisers at 780-1931 or 780-9370 for registration details.
