Professional kite boarder and content creator, Jake Kelsick is the latest victim of theft while at the beach.

On Saturday,December 14th, 2019,thieves stole USD three thousand dollars’ (XDC 8,107.65) worth of video equipment from his truck which he had parked alongside the kite surfing school – Kite Surf Antigua at the Jabberwock beach.

Kelsick who had visited the beach countless times said that around 3 0’clock he had just returned from kiting around Antigua, got back to the beach and off-loaded his belongings from the boat.

He told OBSERVER he then began to load his vehicle, placing the camera bag of equipment in the back end of his truck.

“I left my car unlocked for maybe ten minutes while I went back to the beach to grab my kite. We were walking, just hanging around the kite school area while we were packing up and basically left the beach probably 3.30 p.m. 3.40 p.m. maybe and when I got home to unpack all my stuff, I noticed my camera back was gone”, he recounted.

Kelsick said he circled back to the beach hoping to find it, asking beachgoers if they had seen anyone suspicious lurking around. “No one saw anything I guess”, he said rather dejected.

The theft has since been reported to the Coolidge police station and includes items like his wallet, a Sony a6500, a Sony 70-200, a GoPro7 and GoPro Hero 8.

  1. I guess it’s time we did the simple act of locking the doors. Some video surveillance at public parking areas by police wouldn’t hurt either.

  2. I’m sorry but for equipment of that value, insurance should’ve been a must. That’s a hard loss. My brother would be in an asylum by now.
