Humroy Wright delivered a spectacular performance, scoring a season-high 41 points with 57.1% shooting efficiency, as All Saints Slam dominated Lava Smoke Shop Warriors 89-63 in Saturday night’s Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association Division One Series doubleheader.
Wright’s outstanding display was complemented by Sergio Symister‘s double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Andrew Venture‘s 10-point contribution. Despite Lincoln Weekes‘ 30-point effort and Jamari Hastings‘ impressive 11 points and 18 rebounds for the Warriors, Slam proved too strong.
After a tight first quarter that saw Slam narrowly leading 19-18, the victors steadily built their advantage, extending the lead to 61-45 in the third quarter before securing the commanding 26-point victory.
In the opening game, Spanish Heat bounced back from their narrow 81-79 season-opening loss to Potters Steelers by defeating Kennedy’s Club Ltd Ottos Full Throttle 73-65. The Heat’s balanced attack featured four players in double figures, led by Steven Matthew‘s game-high 22 points. Danny Perez (15), Coy Quinland (12), and Daniel Perez (12) rounded out the scoring.
Full Throttle’s effort was spearheaded by Nechus Jones with 20 points and Morlon Davis with 12 points, while Warren Bogle and Davis each grabbed 11 rebounds in the losing cause.
The results continue to shape what promises to be an exciting 2025 Division One campaign.
