Wright shoots his way into the history books

Humroy Wright of Anjo Wholesale etched his name into the basketball fraternity history books on Tuesday night as he netted a staggering 24 three-pointers in his Cool and Smooth Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Business league match versus Cleaners.
Playing at the JSC Sports Complex, Wright, after sinking only seven three-pointers in the first half, left the fans and his opponents at the JSC Sports Complex in awe as he banked 17 threes in the second half to end with 76 points, making him the
top three-point shooter in local basketball in a single game.
Despite scoring 76 points, Wright however could not secure the title of the most overall points scored in a single game as Sandals’ Devorn Benjamin scored an astounding 100 points last season.
Teammates, Gerard “Dumbo” Henry and DeCosta Walbrook had 18 points while Cleaner’s Adrian Carniege sank 21 points and Franklyn “Spiderman” Corbet, 20.
Anjo went on to win the feature encounter 137-84.
APUA Head Office joined Anjo in the winner’s circle as they defeated Mill Reef, 71-49.
National player, Kwame “Special K” Braithwaite led the victors in scoring with 26 points.
He was assisted by Tavarus Benta and Sean Nicholas who chipped in with 10 points respectively.
Nigel Fergus of Mill Reef had a game high 27 points in a losing effort.
In the other match played that night, Burton’s Laundry edged out Blue Waters, 50-44.
Kelvin Simon and Darren Jeanville had 12 points for the victors while Tristan Jacobs netted 14.
