Barbuda shines brightly with the inaugural Brandon Walker Christmas Lighting Competition. On Monday night, during the Extravaganza at Madison Square in Barbuda, the results were revealed, announcing the winner and first runner-up.
The competition featured two districts from the sister isle: Malata and Park. Malata emerged victorious in 2024, with Mr. and Mrs. James and Delmarie Punter taking home the crown and a prize of $2,500.
The first runner-up, Mr. Anthony Mapp, not only had his electricity expenses covered for the holiday season but also won the People’s Choice Award taking home $700 which was determined through an online poll where the public voted for their favourite lighting display.
This competition united the Barbuda community, as residents travelled from home-to-home to admire the stunning light displays.
Brandon Walker expresses heartfelt gratitude to the community of Barbuda, especially the participants, for rekindling the spirit of Christmas. The anticipation for 2025 is to make it even bigger and brighter!
