National tennis player, Cordell Williams Jr. bowed out of the ongoing International Tennis Federation (ITF) Under-18 CO Williams Barbados Jr. International earlier this week.
Williams Jr., who is the son of Cordell Williams Sr. President of the Antigua and Barbuda Tennis Association (ABTA), gained direct entry into the main draw.
The 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games representative did not have an impressive showing at the event, as he lost in both his singles and doubles matches in the first round.
Williams Jr. on Monday faced off against American, John Bernard, where he lost in both sets; 1-6, 4-6.
Eager to bounce back from the upsetting loss, Williams returned on Tuesday for his doubles encounter with partner, Robert Hayden of Barbados.
The outcome, however, would be the same as they fell, 1-6,3-6 to the team of Joao Pedro Alcanta (Brazil) and Alexandre Le Blanc (Canada).
Williams, despite bowing out in the first round, will seek to make a better showing at the 6th Annual Caribbean Jr. Invitational scheduled for 4th May – 8th May at the National Tennis Center.
BVI, Bermuda, France, USA, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago and St. Vincent & the Grenadines are the countries registered to compete.
