Volleyballers settle for 20th place at CAC Games after latest defeat

Beach Volleyball duo Nyota Peters and Joelle Thomas had to settle for the 20th spot in the ongoing
Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games after suffering their latest defeat to Belize.
Kelsey Balderamos and Emma Hoare handed the vets their fifth straight loss of the Women’s Beach Volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the Avenida del rio-Puerta de Oro winning, 2-1 (21-16, 12-21, 15-11) in the best of three match.
After losing their opening matches on Saturday, the veterans fell in their quest to secure the 13th spot on Monday losing to St. Kitts and Nevis in straight sets 21-11, 21-13.
The bad luck continued just 24 hours later as Peters and Thomas went under in straight sets 21-11, 21-17 to the team of Amber Bennett and Mannika Charles of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Cuba claimed the gold medal while host team, Colombia, settled for silver.
Venezuela secured the bronze medal.
