The Antigua and Barbuda Volleyball Association (ABVA) has postponed the planned hosting of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (EVCA) Women’s World Cup Qualifiers which was slated to start Thursday here at the YMCA Sports Complex.
In a notice sent out Monday, the ABVA cited the pending passage of Hurricane Irma as the major factor leading a decision to postpone the tournament.
Six teams are slated to compete in the tournament with the top team advancing to the next round of the qualifiers.
Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, French St. Martin and Dutch St Maarten will compete in the tournament.
The volleyball association announced last week it had employed the services of a Barbados youth coach, Elwyn Oxley, as the senior women’s team prepares for the second round of the qualifiers.
Meanwhile, organisers of the Business League Football competition have announced that the league, originally slated for 9th September, will now start one week later on 16th September.
