Antigua and Barbuda’s Victor Richards II will be the first in the Caribbean to be recognised in the field of political science by the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC).
Richardson will be presented with the 40 Under 40 Award at the 2018 Pollie Awards and Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, next month.
The award recognises leaders, innovators and exceptional work within the political communications and public affairs industries.
The senior political consultant and international director of Buzzmaker LLC said the recognition speaks volumes and it is good to know that people are noticing the attempts being made to improve and expand how things have been traditionally done.
“I am the first and only Caribbean national to receive this award, I certainly take this as a badge of honour. It will certainly open new possibilities, people like to hire winners and I’m sure the client list will improve somewhat, but, beyond that I think that validation is more assuring than any trophy or prize,” he said.
Richardson is a seasoned field strategist and political management expert with a wide range of experience across many levels of the U.S. and international electoral campaigns. His radical organisational philosophy is a unique blend of science, art and realpolitik, according to AAPC.
He has directed projects across North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, Eastern Europe and Africa. He specialises in political management consulting, field systems development, guerilla advertising and communications.
In 2013 he was awarded the “Rising Star” in political consulting by Campaigns and Elections Magazine.
He has worked in several strategic roles including grassroots development, constituency affairs, field branding, policy development, polling analysis, focus groups, public-private partnerships, interest group management, conflict resolution and public affairs.
Richardson holds a Bachelor of Art in Classics and English from Howard University and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University.
The Pollie Awards are the most prized and sought-after awards in the political communications and public affairs industries. Every entry – whether submitted by a large consulting company or an individual consultant – is considered equal in competing for honours of excellence. A blind jury of professional peers selects AAPC award winners.
