Veteran Marlon George and Top Women’s Golfer Lexi Hunte Putt to Victory in Antigua Open

Veteran Marlon George emerged overall champion of the Antigua and Barbuda Golf Association (ABGA) Open Championship held at the Cedar Valley Golf Course over the weekend, shooting a 142 to take home the trophy for the gross competition.

George was closely followed by Adrian Norford who shot 147 to finish second gross while Wilston Charles swung his way to a third place finish with a score of 150.

Top women’s golfer, Lexi Hunte, putted her way to top honours in the women’s gross with a score of 168 while Michelle Millington won the net award with a score of 154.

Meanwhile in the Men’s A competition, veteran Tedson Weatherill grabbed the top prize in the gross competition with a score of 156 with Kemarly Thomas in second with a score of 158. Paulus Martin picked up the top prize in the net competition, amassing a score of 144 while Mark Woodhouse finished second with 145.

There was action as well in the Men’s B competition as Vance Rawlins rallied to a total of 166 to capture the gross title with W Haywood in second with a score of 172. Nathan Stuart was best in the net competition with a score of 145 while Tunde Bakre finished second with a score of 146.

Former West Indies cricketer, Eldine Baptiste, dominated the Seniors’ Division with a score of 164 to take home the top gross award while Dwayne Hill finished second with a score of 171. There was net victory for Ruel Jones who racked up a score of 143 while Leon “Kuma” Rodney captured second net with a score of 147.

In the Super Seniors, Wesley Dyer shot a total of 156 to take home the top gross award with a score of 156 while Enoch Charles finished second with 166. Ramesh Sinanan was the top player in the nets category with 135 while Richard Lara took the second net award with a score of 148.

There was triumph as well for C Carrington who won the gross category in the Juniors Division with a score of 75. He bettered Zamari Zachariah (95) and Taylon Matthew (99) who were second and third respectively.
