At age 55, veteran bodybuilder Yvette Butler is still making waves on stage, her latest exploits being third and fourth place finishes at the recently held Miami Grand Prix.
Butler competed in the Masters Bikini category finishing third, while finishing fourth in the Bikini over 164cm category.
The athlete, who said she has not ruled out a pro career, added it is not the most important thing on her ‘to-do’ list at the moment.
“I love the sport, and I will say it again, but I know people don’t believe me but it’s not about my pro card. I can buy a pro card 10 times over, so it’s not about the ego of having a pro card because when you go into pro you spend more money, so for me, it’s more self-confidence, doing it for my old people, training my old people and I just do it for me,” she said.
Butler will now set her eyes on competing at the nationals slated for August 31, and she is confident that she will do well.
“The push going forward is just to fine-tune the areas that the judges told me what to do, because I am already in condition and just focus, don’t cheat, and just bring my best game along as to whomever I have to go up against,” she said.
Kala Francis claimed silver in the over 160cm category, while Kayla Joseph, who also competed in the wellness category, 160cm, finished fourth. There was a profitable finish as well for veteran Bikini competitor, Kemberly Greenaway, also performed commendably, claiming a top five and a top 10 finish at the event.
Greenaway finished fifth in the Bikini over 164cm, while finishing sixth in the Masters Bikini category.
