Vendors defeat Galley Bay, Sandals trounce SLBMC

Newcomers Vendors stamped their authority in their first ever showing of the 2022 Cool and Smooth Business Basketball League on Monday night with a 44-34 win over Galley Bay at JSC.

Youngster, Craig Massiah, led his team to victory netting 16 points while for Galley Bay former national female players, Arrianne Whyte and Tyea Ladoo both scored eight points.

Former champions, Sandals Grande Antigua got off to a brilliant start to their campaign with a 83-25 trouncing of newbies, Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC).

National player, Lincoln Weekes, was the top scorer for the victors banking 21 points.

He was assisted by high-flyer Keroi ‘Dragon’ Lee who scored 18.

Jamar Bird was the lone scorer for SLBMC in double digits making 13.

In the final match of the triple header evening, Fitzroy Rewinding went under to new comers, Sledge O Ballers by a 62-30 score line.

Despite an 11-point effort from Eric ‘Lebron’ Joseph, Fitzroy Rewinding could not match up to the style of play of Sledge O Ballers resulting in their first loss of the season.

National player, Sharife Sergeant led all scorers with 20 points while teammate Steadroy ‘Happy’ Graham assisted netting 13.

Games will continue tonight at the JSC Sports Complex starting at 6:30 with Fitzroy Rewinding facing the defending champions, Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB) while at 7:30, Mill Reef will play Vendors.

In the feature encounter at 8:30, Pointe FM will battle Sandals.
