United stun Old Road, Grenades held to a draw

All Saints United was the lone team to secure a win on Saturday night in the ongoing Antigua Premier League (APL).

United playing at the historic Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG) stunned Drahz KFC Old Road beating them 2-1 in the first match of the double header evening.

Goals from Reon Cuffy in the 22nd minute and Bernardo Milford in the 81st moved the victorious United team to 7th on the 10-team standings with 19 points.

Old Road however remain in the sixth spot with 21.

Frontrunners Sandals INET Grenades stumbled in their quest for the prestigious APL title has they were held to a draw by Richie Rich Five Islands.

The nil-all feature encounter saw both teams have a number of chances to walk away a with a full three points but could not capitalise.

This now means that Grenades lead the table by just two points with former champions Greenbay Hoppers following closely behind with a match in hand with just two weekends left in the coveted competition.

Five Islands on the other hand remain in the dreaded relegation zone with 15 points in 9th.

Meanwhile, on Friday in the Female Division of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA), Tigress edged out Cutting Edge 1-0 and Fort Road and Lady Hoppers played to a nil-all draw.

National player, Portia Davis scored the winning goal in the 31st minute.
