Defending champions, All Saints United, returned to their winning ways in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) Premier Division with a 7-0 trouncing of former champions Parham FC when they met in the feature contest of a triple-header on Sunday.
Playing at the FA’s Technical Center located on Sir Sydney Walling Highway, United recorded what was their third win in four matches after being held to a 1-1 draw by newcomers Potters Tigers last week.
The All Saints men were led by last season’s golden boot, Raheem Deterville and striker D’Andre Bishop who both recorded hattricks. Bishop netted in minutes25, 40 and 43 while Detervile scored in minutes 51, 55 and 64 to record his second, third fourth of the season. Zafique Drew put the icing on the cake with a 79th minute conversion.
United move to 10 points from their four outings while Parham are yet to get off the mark after the same number of showings.
Meanwhile, frontrunners Grenades FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Garden Stars FC when they met in the second game of the triple-header.
Ridel Stanislas got Grenades off to a flying start when he put them ahead from a close range in the opening minute but an own-goal by Kurt Frederick just three minutes later handed Garden Stars the equalizer as Grenades dropped their first points in four outings.
In Sunday’s opening clash, Willikies Warriors edged Potters Tigers 2-1. Striker Keon Greene put Potters ahead on minute 34 as they took a one-nil advantage into the half. Second half strikes from Phil Nicholas (58) and Nadre Thomas (76) however sealed the win for Warriors, their second in four outings.
