The Antigua & Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU) will be meeting today, with the management of Caribbean Airport Services (CAS) to discuss the details of a recent strike action which disrupted flight operations at the VC Bird International Airport.
A well-placed source close to the issue, said the talks will convene at 9 am at the union’s Newgate Street Headquarters.
Customer Service Representatives and other staff took the action on the weekend due to a breakdown in talks over salary increases.
Several flights departing the airport, including LIAT, the Caribbean airline experienced delays as a result of the strike action.
LIAT was forced to issue an apology and an advisory to customers who reportedly waited up to three hours before departing the island.
CAS provides passenger handling, cargo handling and other flight support services for LIAT, Air Canada, Amerijet, Continental Airlines and Canjet.
