Tyson finishes seventh at Youth Olympics

Tiger Tyson, the reigning junior sportsman of the year is now ranked the seventh best overall youth IKA Twin Taping kiteboarder.
Tyson, despite missing out on the chance to claim Antigua and Barbuda’s first medal at the ongoing
Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, still has much to be happy for as the youngster is now one of the top ten best in the world.
Competing in the Men’s IKA Twin Taping category, Tyson who sailed in a number of races last week could not secure the points needed for a spot on the podium resulting in him settling for a seventh-place finish.
Dominican Republic’s Deury Corniel claimed the gold medal.
Dahlia Barnes just missed out on a top 10 finish as Barnes who competed in the women’s long jump over the weekend finished in 13th place.
Barnes, after jumping a distance of 4.97 metres last Thursday, improved her jump to 5.28 metres on Sunday but despite the improvement, could not meet the medal standard distances of bronze medalist, Ingeborg Gruenwald of Austria with 6.20 metres and silver medalist, Klaudia Endresz of Hungary with 6.26 metres.
 Belgium’s Maite Beernaert claimed the top prize with a 6.31metres jump.
All eyes will now turn to sprinter, Soniya Jones who up until press time was competing in Stage 2-heat 4 of the women’s 100 metres.
Jones having run last Friday in stage 1, finished third in heat 5 with a time of 12.48 seconds.
St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred won the heat with a time of 11.99 seconds.
