Almost two years since Katja Geisler made her first court appearance after an alleged hit-and-run which left a fisherman with serious injuries, the police remain not ready to proceed with the case.

Geisler, a resident of Jolly Harbour, was due to have her case committed to the High Court last week to respond to the charges brought by the police – dangerous driving, and leaving the scene of an accident.

However, the case has yet to move from the Magistrate’s court to the High Court.

In June 2022, Geisler was alleged to have struck fisherman William Nouy of Guadeloupe at the Falmouth Harbour Marina.

Nouy had been visiting the country for the annual Antigua and Barbuda Sports Fishing Tournament.

The incident had caused extensive injuries to his brain that required him to be airlifted back home to receive treatment.

He has been undergoing intense therapy in a rehabilitation centre in Guadeloupe’s administrative capital, Basse-Terre.
