Transport Board record another win

Defending champions, Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB) recorded their fifth straight win of the season over the weekend.

The champions, playing in the Cool and Smooth Business Basketball League tournament on Sunday night at JSC, edged out Dixie, 66-62, with Bryan “Hollywood” Matthew leading the charge netting 21 points.

Marlon “Buju” Charles assisted, sinking 17 points for the undefeated team.

Dixie’s Kareem Blair was the leading scorer with 19 points while teammates Nigel “Snarks” Joseph and Gija George contributed, scoring 17 and 13 points, respectively.

Noel Ryan also got in on the action, making 10 in a losing effort.

A-Mobile moved their record to 3-1 that same night after handing Cleaners a 64-53 defeat.

Jeffrey George had a game high 28 points for the victors with assistance from Tahj Kirby who sank 19.

Cleaners’ Tyreke Lewis had 17 points, while teammates Adrian Carnegie and Jaheem James chipped, in scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Cleaners now hold a 1-3 record.

In the other match played that night, Blue Waters suffered their fourth loss of the season as they were edged out by Eye Mobile Vision Care, 74-71.

Tehran Zachariah led his team to their third win of the season with 24 points.

He was assisted by Darryl Goodwin and Javonte Daley who had 18 and 12 points.

Blue Waters’ Ishan Peets made 24 while Ariel Quallis and Kareem Jacobs chipped in, scoring 10 points each.

Games will continue tonight at both the YMCA and JSC Sports complexes.

Starting at 6:30 at YMCA, Eye Mobile will play Cleaners while, at 7:30, Sandals will face Blue Waters. 

Meanwhile, at JSC, Digicel will face Galley Bay at 6:30 while, at 7:30, APUA Water will meet Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB).
