Transport Board reclaim title, Galley Bay still without a win

Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board (ABTB) made it official on Thursday night in claiming back-to-back titles as they wrapped up their regular season games in the Cool and Smooth Business League Basketball tournament with a 16-1 record.

The league champions defeated Cleaners 89-57 in the feature encounter at the JSC Sports Complex.

National player, Kareem “Macky” Edwards led the champions with 29 points with assistance from Bryan “Hollywood” Matthew who sank 20.

Newbies, Galley Bay ended their campaign without a win as they went under to APUA Water, 73-46.

Olivee’ Morris had a game high 20 points for the victors with assistance from teammates Michael Jeffers and Winston Roberts, who made 17 and 10 points, respectively.

Kamyah Hector was the lone player in double figures for Galley Bay, scoring 10 points.

In the other match played that night, Area 51 Invaders trounced Digicel, beating them 83-52.

Desmond Spencer led the victors with 29 points while teammate Steadroy “Happy” Graham shot the lights out, banking nine three-point bombers to finish with 27 points.

Carlton Albert also got in on the action, scoring 10 points.

Digicel’s Joshua Salmon had 16, Jamar Bird 14, and Tevin Bowers, 12 in a losing effort. Games will continue on Saturday night starting at 6:30 as Pointe FM will battle Fitzroy’s Rewinding Transformers, while at 7:30, Dixie will face Anjo Wholesale.
