Defending champions, Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board, suffered their first loss in this year’s Cool and Smooth-sponsored Business Basketball League when, on Thursday night, they were edged 64-57 in the feature game of a double-header at the JSC Basketball Complex.

Steven Matthew was hero on the night, hitting a game high of 19 points to lead Anjo Wholesale to triumph. There was assistance from Tequan Brodie with 13 points and Ismael Palemo with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

In a losing effort, Devorn Benjamin and Russell Daley let the scoring for Transport Board with 15 points each. Veteran Marlon “Buju” Charles sank 11 points while dishing three assists.

In Thursday’s opening contest, Sledge O’s edged Fearless Crew 58-53. Kareem Edwards was best on show for the winners with 21 points while Michael Jeffers contributed with 10 points. For Fearless Crew, Takeem Martin led with 16 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Adrian Browne contributed to the effort with 11 points.

Tonight (Sept 21), Board of Education take on Lion Feast in the first game of a triple-header starting at 6:30 pm. Sandals and United clash in the second contest at 7:30pm, while Eye Mobile Vision Care take on Richie’s Shooters in the feature contest starting at 8:30 pm. 

On Sunday, Lava Smoke Shop take on H Wright Promotions in the first game of a triple-header starting at 6:30 pm. Anjo Wholesale play Sledge O’s at 7:30 pm and Fearless Crew face ABTB in the feature clash at 8:30 pm.
