Top players score half centuries in winning efforts in tape ball cricket

Shemar Pereira and Elroy Francis both made half centuries as they led VIP to a 52 runs triumph over PMS in the LL Supply Ltd Island Boys Sports Club T20 Tape Ball Classic on Sunday.

Playing at Powells, Pereira made 81, the highest individual score from any player on the day while Francis contributed with 58 as VIP posted 213 for six in their allotted 20 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat. There were two wickets each for Terrence Thompson and Malinga Bruney bowling for the opponents.

Despite a spirited 48 from Clarence Francis and 35 from Amos Bruney, PMS fell short at 161 for nine off their 20 overs. Conroy Semple was the pick of the bowlers for VIP, claiming three wickets for 16 runs in two overs.

Also at Powells, ABDF Warriors defeated Sisserou by 43 runs.

Winning the toss and opting to bat, Warriors amassed 195 for six in their 20 overs. Shaquelle Richards hit a top score of 61 while Almoyie Webster contributed with 55. Miguel Lafond picked up two wickets for 35 runs in four overs bowling for the opponents.

Sisserou were then bowled out for 152 in 17.1 overs with a top knock of 62 from Frederick Floyd. Quincy France did the damage with the ball for Warriors with three wickets for 25 runs in 3.1 overs. There were two wickets each for Vaughn Charles, Jeff Lawrence and T’ron Payne.

Meanwhile, at the Antigua Grammar School (AGS) grounds, Dredgers defeated Buckley’s 3J’s by three wickets.

Batting first, 3J’s raised 140 for eight in their overs with Demari Benta making 31. Melvin Charles was the pick of the bowlers for the opponents with three wickets for 28 runs

Charles then returned with the bat to score 59 and lead Dredgers to 142 for seven with just two balls to spare. Kirk Douglas chipped in with 39 while there were two wickets each for Benta and Rodney Williams.

In the other match contested at AGS, TG’s Welding & Fabricate Underdogs defeated Desi Boys by 48 runs.

Underdogs made 125 for six in their 20 overs with Hughon Tonge hitting a top score of 26. Bijay Kumar Barik claimed three for 11.

When their turn at the crease arrived, Desi Boys were bowled out for just 77 in 17.4 overs. Mysore Nagraj top-scored with 43 not out. Tonge was the pick of the bowlers for Underdogs with four for 21 in four overs, while Kief Baltimore bagged three for 11 in three overs.
