Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney has unveiled plans for the upcoming Police Week, scheduled to take place from September 7-14.
Despite ongoing challenges, the police force says it is committed to maintaining its tradition of community engagement.
Key events include:
– Opening service at Bible Speaks Adventist Church in Creekside on September 7
– Kaufman Cup and fitness walk on September 8
– Fire display on High Street on September 9
– Community outreach day on September 11
– Food fair featuring diverse cuisines on September 13
– Drama performance on September 14
Commissioner Rodney emphasised the importance of public relations and community policing, stating, “We know the value of public relations, we know the value of community policing. And in spite of the challenges, we want to interact with the public, even in a smaller way this year compared to the other years.”
The Commissioner called for public support and participation, particularly from the business sector, in making these events successful.
He also mentioned that the force will be recognising retired officers and making food packages for a community outreach initiative during the week.
