Potters Tigers’ reign at the top of the First Division standings will continue for at least another week after the frontrunners easily dispatched of the struggling Liberta Blackhawks by an eight-nil (8-0) margin, moving to 27 points, two more than second-placed Five Islands.

Playing at Radio Range in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) competition, Tigers dominated the one-sided affair with Brian Davis getting a hattrick. Davis scored in minutes 10, 25 and 49 while Kelvin Carr and Javan Henry both scored twice. Car scored in minutes eight and 27 while Henry hit the back of the net in minutes 67 and 75. Javon Benjamin scored the other goal when he struck in minute 71.

The win was Tigers’ eighth in 11 matches while the loss was Blackhawks’ ninth after 11 matches also. Blackhawks are second from bottom on the standings with six points.

In the other match contested Tuesday, former Premier Division champions Five Islands FC made light work of Old Road’s Young Lions, beating their opponents 4-0 to stay within striking distance of the leaders, Potters, with 25 points. However, after 100 showings, Five Islands have played a game less than Tigers.

Five Islands were led by Jamal Joseph and Demario Roberts who both scored twice. Joseph netted in minutes 13 and 29 while Roberts scored in minutes 68 and 90.

The defeat was Lions’ 10th in 11 showings as they remain bottom of the standings with just three points.
