The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment said in a press release dated Monday 3 February, that Aida Perla cruise vessel will not be allowed to berth as scheduled tomorrow the 4 February 2020.

The ministry cited that the Maritime Health Declaration provided by the vessel was insufficient to make a proper assessment of the health situation on the vessel.

As a result, the ministry said additional crucial information was requested but that information was never provided in a timely manner.

The Aida Perla was denied entry in St. Lucia and Dominica due to health concerns of reported upper respiratory infections on board.

Individuals within Antigua and Barbuda took to social media over the weekend to express their concerns about the vessel coming to Antigua and whether the government would allow it entrance.

More information will be provided in tomorrow’s Daily Observer.
