TG Welding defeated Living Style by 60 runs on Sunday, as they maintain their stance at the top of the table in the MPL Cool & Smooth Sherma Jackson Business League Softball Competition.
Opting to bat first at the Potters community field, TG Welding posted 114 for six off their 10 overs with Kimberly Anthony hitting a top score of 25 and Martin Singh contributing with 23. Alfred Jarvis was the pick of the bowlers for the opponents with three wickets for nine runs in two overs, while Arnos Bruney claimed two for 12 in two overs.
When their turn at the crease arrived, Living Styles could only get to 54 for four in their 10 overs. Steve Martin top-scored with 18. Azim Panlall was best with the ball for TG Welding with two wickets for 10 runs from two overs.
The win moves TG Welding to 40 points at the top of the standings, 20 points ahead of nearest rivals the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF), while Living Styles remain on 10 points.
There was a huge victory as well for Time of Victory as they beat AFBAHLUR by 10 wickets.
Batting first, AFBAHLUR could only get 58 runs from their 10 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Stanley Farrell did the damage with the ball for the victors with two wickets for just three runs in two overs.
Time for Victory then raced to 61 in just 3.1 overs with Essan Warner hitting a destructive 43 not out while Michael Greaves added 12 not out.
Time for Victory move to 20 points while AFBAHLUR remain on 10 points. Grill Box is fourth in the standings with 15 points, while Pel Desi Boys sit at the bottom of the standings with five points.
