TG Welding successfully defended their title in the Cool & Smooth Sherma Jackson Joma Business Mandy Premier League finals on Sunday, securing a nail-biting 12-run victory over Zamine Shipping in the championship match played at Potters.
The day began with ABDF claiming third place through a convincing 35-run win over Buck and Sons Landscaping Services. ABDF posted a competitive 99/8 in their allotted 10 overs, anchored by Tron Payne‘s outstanding knock of 29 runs, well supported by Kevin Pitman (19) and Malik Marcellin (17). Buck and Sons’ bowling attack showed resilience, with Rodney Williams and Kimani George each claiming two wickets.
In response, Buck and Sons struggled to build momentum, managing only 64/9 in their 10 overs. Kenrick Scott and Rodney Williams top-scored with 12 runs each, while Kerry Burton led ABDF’s bowling assault with impressive figures of 3/22. Vaughn Charles and Troy Lake contributed with two wickets apiece. Tron Payne‘s all-round performance earned him Player of the Game honours.
The championship match lived up to expectations as TG Welding battled to a total of 78/9, with Essan Warner leading the charge with a crucial 21 runs, supported by Malique Jacob‘s 13. Zamine Shipping’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout, with Dorian Grant taking 3/12, while Cheston Scotland and Sacha Michael claimed two wickets each.
Zamine Shipping’s chase fell short at 66/5, despite strong efforts from Kim George (20), Zack Thomas (15), and Dorian Grant (17). TG Welding’s bowlers, led by Deran Benta (2/16) and Richie Thomas (2/8), held their nerve to secure the championship. Warner’s match-winning innings earned him Player of the Game recognition.

The tournament concluded with its awards ceremony that recognised outstanding performances throughout the season. Tyrone Williams Jr. of Zamine Shipping dominated the individual honors, claiming both Most Runs and MVP awards. Debra George of the champion TG Welding team made history by securing both Most Wickets and Female MVP titles, while Daena Bird of ABDF was recognized for her batting achievements in the women’s category.
Other notable awards included Shaquan Reifer of Grill Box AGSPT for Most Wickets, Clarence Francis of Construction Solutions for Highest Individual Score, and Robin Balgobin of Buck and Sons for Best Catch. The tournament also acknowledged excellence beyond the boundary, with Arthur Crogman receiving the Most Consistent Umpire award and Thagpaul Gaimchand of TG Welding being named Best Manager.
Zamine Shipping didn’t leave empty-handed, taking home the Best Uniform award along with their second-place finish. The spirit of cricket was celebrated with special recognition given to Kenrick Scott and Elroy Francis Jr for their exemplary sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
