The Antigua and Barbuda Tennis Association (ABTA) and the Antigua and Barbuda Golf Association (ABGA) are among seven organisations that did not meet the November 30 deadline for the submission of nominees for next year’s National Sports Awards.
Following the awards honouring outstanding athletes and administrators for 2022, President of the Antigua and Barbuda Tennis Association, Cordell Williams, had announced that the body would not take part in the event because of past experiences.
Also notably absent from the list of nominations is the Antigua and Barbuda Boxing Association (ABBA), the Antigua and Barbuda Drag Racing Association (ABDRA) and the Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA).
There were also no nominations from the handball association and the horse society.
However, a number of associations to include the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA), the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association, the Antigua and Barbuda Swimming Federation (ABSF) and the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) have all made good on their nominations.
Nominations are also in from the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA), the Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Association (ABCA), Antigua and Barbuda Volleyball Association (ABVA), the Antigua and Barbuda Netball Association (ABNA), the Antigua and Barbuda Bodybuilding & Weightlifting Federation (ABBWF), Sailing, Rifle, Softball Cricket, Fencing and Domino Associations.
