The Antigua and Barbuda Tennis Association (ABTA) has announced an eight-member squad that will contest the 2018 Subregion 4 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Central American and Caribbean Tennis Confederation (COTECC) Under-12 Championships in Trinidad and Tobago.
Brasha Dyer who was a part of the 2017 girls’ champion team will make her return to the July 15 to 22 event in the hopes of leading the girls team to a second straight title.
The other members of the girl’s team include: Ariel Kelsick and Aysha Hosam with Erica Williams being named as captain.
The boys’ team however will be on a different quest as they hope to improve from a disappointing finish in last year’s event.
Jaydon Marcano and Xaveek Toppin will make their second appearance at the championships while Justin Raeburn will make his debut for Antigua and Barbuda.
Damon Browne is the boys’ captain.
The championships also serve as a scouting ground for ITF development officers who will review athletes’ performances for selection to an Under-12 training camp.
Sibley Charles and Samaar Davis were both selected last year to attend the training camp.
The team left Antigua on Saturday.
