Ten to compete in Optimist Petit

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Optimist Petit 2012 is off to a resounding start with the ten delegates selected being introduced last weekend during the official launch held at Sea Breeze.

For the past three weeks the children have been on outings where they learnt about fire safety as well as the other emergency services provided to us from the brave men and women at the Coolidge Fire Station.

They were also educated about the importance of water safety from the members of the Swalings Group.

At the launch the delegates selected their order of appearance for the day of the show and their individual sponsors.

These include (in order) Tenequa Henry, sponsored by Battery Engineering Sales and Services; McKenzie Prosper, Millenium B&E Services and Zenia Daniel.

Other sponsors are Civil Engineering & Associated Services; Sharandy Whyte, Wishes Bus Services; Destiny Martin. Bargain Centre Supermarket; Destiny Phillips, Trendy Kidz; Annafra John-Pierre, Happy Kids; Affia Maddison, Little Starfish; Tafari Horsford, Carib World Travel; and Trevona Romeo, 7th Heaven Clothing Store.

“The delegates are very busy right now working on their talents and other aspects of the show,” said Director Sam Adolphine.

“We are always excited and thrilled by the high level of talent and intelligence our children display for us in years past and this time around will be no different.”

The show is slated for July 15 at 4:30 pm at the Antigua Recreation Grounds. Tickets will go on sale shortly and are $20 for adults and $15 for children.

The winner will receive a fully loaded computer system courtesy of Comnet Ltd in Redcliffe Quay.
