The Minister of Works and Housing Eustace “Teco” Lake will continue his medical treatment overseas, Governor General Sir Rodney Williams disclosed during delivery of the Throne Speech.
“My government regrets that Minister Eustace Teco Lake cannot be seated in this chamber today.
“The director of the Mount St John’s Medical Centre reports that he is recovering and that the most talented medical personnel are applying their training to his care. Nevertheless… my government has already put plans in place to fly him to another hospital.
“We all pray for his speedy and total recovery, “Governor General Sir Rodney Williams reported to the joint sitting.
Just yesterday, the Prime Minister Gaston Browne told Observer media that Lake had been taken off the respirator and his blood pressure is under control, adding that the MP’s condition was improving as expected.
Lake has been hospitalized since Wednesday, with kidney complications.
Lionel “Max” Hurst, government’s chief of staff, has said that the director of Public Works and the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Works and Housing will take on Lake’s responsibilities.
They will report directly to the prime minister until further notice.
