Buckley’s 3J’s and Strictly Business will clash in the final of the men’s division of the Antigua and Barbuda Softball Cricket Association (ABSCA) T20 Competition while Bullets will face Enforcers in the women’s final, both slated for Sunday in Jennings.
The teams booked their spots in the final following wins in the semifinals contested on Sunday at venues across the country.
In the men’s division, Strictly Business defeated Old Road by 79 runs in the first men’s semis played at Powell’s.
Batting first, Strictly Business posted 177 for one in their 20 overs with Kim George hitting 112 not out. He struck three fours and 14 sixes. Raymond Leadette added 30 to the effort.
Old Road were then restricted to just 98 for nine in 20 overs with a top knock of 42 from Hezekiah Weston. Egbert Francis was the pick of the bowlers for the victors with three wickets for seven runs in four overs.
In the other men’s semis, Buckley’s 3J’s defeated Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) Warriors by 87 runs.
Asked to bat, Buckley’s raised 169 for six in 20 overs. Gregson Merrick top-scored with 59 not out while Steve Martin added 40 to the effort. Troy Lake claimed three wickets for 34 runs in four overs.
Warriors were then bowled out for just 82 in 11 overs. Alfred Jarvis did the damage with the ball for Buckley’s with a five-for, picking up five wickets for 18 runs in three overs.
Meanwhile, in the women’s division, Bullets beat Potters Uprising by 20 runs to book their spot in the final.
Batting first, Bullets made 115 for six in their 20 overs with a top score of 29 from Althea Gage. Uprising were then restricted to 95 for six in their allotment of 20 overs. Carla Weatherhead top-scored with 30. Mary Browne bagged two wickets for three runs.
Also in the women’s semis, Enforcers defeated Flyers by 22 runs.
Batting first after winnings the toss, Enforcers raised 113 for seven in 20 overs with Kimberly Anthony top-scoring with 45. Valencia Thomas bagged three wickets for 27 runs in four overs.
Flyers were then restricted to 91 for four in their 20 overs with Terez Parker hitting a top score of 40. Robinette Burton added 33 to the effort.
The men’s final will bowl off at 10am while the women’s final will start at 2:30pm.
