Team Antigua still in the running for Under-20 Pan Am Championships

The Under-20 female national volleyball team now find themselves one win away from advancing to the 2019 Under-20 Pan American Championships after defeating the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in a must-win game on Sunday morning at the Earl Merkman Sports Auditorium in St. Eustatius in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under-20 Zonal Championships.
The team, comprising, Timna Phillip, Josanne Lewis, Rayanna Regis, Denisha Simon, Nia Benjamin, Aliya Alfred, Damia Jackson, Rochelle Boyer, Keidean Davis and Harmony Edwards, overpowered BVI in straight sets, winning 25-11,25-6,25-8 setting a rematch in the finals against powerhouse team, St. Lucia who handed Team Wadadli their first loss in the tournament on Saturday evening, winning in straight sets (25-8, 25-16,26-24).
Hours earlier, Antigua and Barbuda recorded their first win after defeating the home team in straight sets, 25-19, 25-14,25-19.
Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, British Virgin Islands and St. Eustatius were the four teams classed in this zone.
Only the top overall team will advance.
The team is coached by Rosely Lewis while the Assistant Coach is Rixon Joseph.
