The promise to establish tax boards for both the income and property tax will come to realisation shortly.
The Commissioner of the Inland Revenue Department, Ralph Warner, spoke exclusively to OBSERVER media, yesterday, regarding the progress of the boards.
“Currently, the members are being notified by the Governor General. Cabinet made the ruling some time ago but now we are in the process of notifying the different individuals that they have been selected to act on the boards,” Warner said.
Warner added that Justice Albert Redhead will chair both appeal boards, but the overall membership of the boards will be different. He said that requirement for the Income Tax Appeal Board calls for a legal person and an accountant as opposed to the Property Tax Appeal Board, which will need an engineer and a professional who will be able to carry out property tax evaluations.
According to the commissioner, the Property Tax Appeal Board will consist of four members, including the chairman, and the Income Tax Appeal Board will have five members, including the chairman
